Red Tricycle is built upon an army of parents, with a few super-cool singletons thrown into the mix. We’re a smart, diverse, agile, hard-working, collaborative bunch, but we’re also creative, passionate, thoughtful, and undeniably obsessed with the site that we work for. There’s a lot of talent behind Red Tricycle… and it all begins here.
A fifteen-year media veteran in both New York and San Francisco, Jacqui helped launch a slew of media properties for Reed Elsevier, Meredith Corporation, Miller Publishing and San Francisco magazine. Prior to media, Jacqui worked in Public Relations and counted Ringling Bros Circus and Walt Disney’s World on Ice among her clients. Her start-up experience includes sflodgings.com (an airbnb predecessor) and Breathe, a yoga lifestyle company. When not running Red Tricycle, she can be found trail running on Mt Tam with her dogs.
Dan’s career in Silicon Valley software development spans three decades, and he’s been working in web startups since 1994. While he doesn’t miss Mosaic, he’s generally a fan of bleeding-edge technologies. Whether it’s highly performant hybrid mobile frameworks or dev process automation, he’s happy to dive in and see what the latest technology can deliver.
Toby is a huge nerd. He’s responsible for making the Red Tricycle site tick. If something’s wrong, he probably knew about it 5 minutes ago. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and armed with a BFA from the University of Washington’s Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media, he runs things from the Seattle “branch” of Red Tricycle. Toby has worked in startups the past 4 years, notably for Cheezburger, where he helped the company grow from small startup to humor media empire. He’s passionate about WordPress, open source software and emerging web technologies. In his “spare” time, Toby enjoys cooking, video games, Science Fiction and music.
After graduating from Occidental College, Erin decamped to the Big Apple where she earned her editing and writing chops working for Janklow & Nesbit Associates literary agency. She has also written for NBC, Clinique, Care2, and a variety of other digital media companies. While the bright lights of New York City were enchanting, Erin couldn’t resist moving back to her beloved (and snow-free!) hometown of San Francisco where she joined the Red Tricycle team in June 2011. In her free time, you can find Erin in Tahoe, hanging with family, walking her furry child in the Presidio and trying out new recipes.
Kevin grew up in Walnut Creek, CA and attended UC Davis where, in 2011, he graduated with a degree in Managerial Economics. He briefly perused careers as a real estate agent, financial advisor, and writer before finding a home with Red Tricycle in 2013. Kevin now lives in Oakland, CA and enjoys playing poker, basketball, video games, and board games; drawing, writing, reading, making puns, bowling, watching science lectures, telling long-winded anecdotes, philosophizing, creating music, and eating.
Leigh is a true Bay Area native. Born in San Francisco and raised in beautiful Marin County, Leigh spent her academic career – you guessed it – locally. She attended Santa Rosa Junior College prior to her stint at San Francisco State University. After graduating SFSU with a degree in print and online journalism with a focus in online and social media, Leigh worked as a marketing coordinator and digital media manager prior to joining Red Tricycle in late 2016. All her free time is now consumed by her spunky two-year-old and trying to plan the next family vacation.
Jen Watro was born, raised and has always lived in New York. She graduated from the University at Albany with a degree in communications and started her career as a marketing coordinator. That lead her down a path to email marketing and ultimately, audience development. When she’s not working, she can be found shopping at Target or HomeGoods.
Jennifer leads all sales partnerships at Red Tricycle, helping brands across the country connect with our audience in an authentic and meaningful way. Jennifer spent over a decade after college in NYC where she worked in Ad Sales at Hearst, Time Inc and Wenner Media, before moving back to the Midwest with her family. Jennifer loves working at Red Tricycle because she has two young sons (1, 4) and is always looking for ways to make long-lasting memories and help surviving this hectic time of life.
Olivia is a Bay Area native who, after graduating with a degree in Communications (Minor in Spanish) from the University of Washington, moved to Los Angeles, where she lives with her spouse and two kids. Her favorite things, not necessarily in this order are: traveling, eating crab, wine tasting in Paso Robles, Orange Theory, dancing, Friday Night Lights and Saved By the Bell.
Kenzie is a Midwest native who got her start in digital media at Better Homes and Gardens. While learning why you should always use unsalted and how to pronounce toile, she worked her way up to managing social media and blogger relationships for the magazine. After dabbling in nonprofit marketing and internal communication up and down the East Coast, she made her way to Red Tricycle and settled in Western North Carolina. When she’s not managing the creative side of Red Tricycle’s brand partnerships, Kenzie enjoys hiking, coaching youth sports and convincing her dogs to pose for Instagram posts.
Amber Guetebier is Red Tricycle’s Managing Editor with a particular addiction to books, pirates, travel and plants (more or less in that order). After working for years as an acquisitions editor at a book publisher, she discovered Red Tricycle late one night searching for places to take her then-toddler son and was hooked. When not enforcing the rules of title case or brainstorming new story ideas, she can probably be found reading.
Gabby Cullen is a mom of two, and she discovered Red Tricycle in 2012 when, as a freelance working mom, she desperately needed to find things to do with her toddler daughter during the day (read: they were both bored at home). She was lucky enough to snag a position as the SF Calendar Editor and hasn’t looked back. Now living in the Dallas, TX area, she often misses her Northern CA roots but enjoys getting to know another area of the country. You can find her in the kitchen, spending time with friends, reading or dreaming about hopping on a plane to somewhere amazing.
Karly is a mom to a super cool six-year-old daughter and a wife of 14 years. She lives in Southern California, where she thoroughly enjoys the beach and other stereotypical Californian activities like taking photos of her food and wearing sandals all year long. She loves cooking, baking, crafting and cheering for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Jillian spent three years working in publishing before moving to Los Angeles where she worked in the entertainment business for 17 years prior to joining Red Tricycle in 2018. Currently, Jillian is the Local Campaign Manager and loves working from home where she gets to avoid all the LA traffic and spend more time with her three kids, four if she includes her husband. When not driving around her two daughters or telling them to put on pants or brush their hair, Jillian loves playing with her two dogs, reading and sleeping (a treasure for any mom who can get it).
Laura grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and attended Penn State University. After calling a few cities home, she finally landed in sunny San Diego. Prior to joining the Red Tricycle team in 2018 Laura worked as a Marketing and Events Coordinator. When she’s not making sure the daily newsletters are in tip top shape you can find her chasing her two kids around town, planning her next family adventure or standing in a line at Legoland.
Tracy is the Director of the Pacific Northwest, and can’t imagine living anywhere else. She’s an Oregon native who started her sales career at the age of 20 while attending Marylhust University. Tracy loves working at Red Tricycle and building successful relationships with her customers. When she’s not working, she’s spending time with her husband and two boys and cheering on the Portland Timbers.
