If you grew up in the ’90s, chances are you followed the adventures of Chuckie, Finster and Tommy Pickles as they navigated life in diapers. Now you can introduce the gang to your own little rugrats because they’re coming back: The Rugrats reboot will feature all the same characters you loved in both a new animated series and movie.

It’s been 28 years since The Rugrats first debuted on Nickelodeon, but apparently the crew hasn’t “growed up” because they’re returning for more toddling adventures. Nickelodeon has announced that the iconic kids series will get a new 26-episode run and another feature film, the franchise’s fourth.

Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,” said Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks andNickelodeon interim President. “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

All of the show’s original characters including Angelica and Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Phil and Lil Devile and even Reptar will be included in the reboot, as well as some new characters that have yet to be revealed. No word on when the show will premiere, but it will likely lead up to the film, which is expected to hit theaters Nov. 13, 2020.

In an unusual twist, the movie will be live-action with CGI characters. What that will actually look like is unclear, but it could end up similar to Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water. Regardless, thank Bob The Rugrats are back!
