So you say you want to have a winter coat drive? Okay. Now what? One Warm Coat can help you. With the tools and resources you need, One Warm Coat is an organizing organization. Started in 1992, they held their very first coat drive in San Francisco on Thanksgiving weekend. Since then, they’ve helped to collect more than five million coats. That equals roughly 3,500 coat drives annually.

If you’re all about hosting a coat drive for your child’s school, your religious organization or another group, One Warm Coat can help in a few simple steps. All you need to is pick the date and location, register on the organization’s website and promote your drive with the free tools and resources that the organization will give to you.

On the date of the drive you’ll collect and count the coats, report your results to One Warm Coat and then deliver your bounty. Don’t worry about finding a distributor. The organization can help you to locate a distribution partner that’s local.

You also don’t need to limit your “coat drive” to just jackets. You can also ask for other winter weather donations, such as sweaters, sweatshirts, scarves, hats, gloves or mittens.
