What is Red Tricycle’s Totally Awesome Awards?

Red Tricycle’s Totally Awesome Awards is the largest awards program in in the greater parenting community. The Totally Awesome Awards recognize the best family-friendly products, parenting tips and resources for babies and tots across the nation and allows parents to elect their favorites from a curated list of best-of-the-best.

How It Works

Choosing the nominees for the Totally Awesome Awards is our equivalent of running a marathon with a jogging stroller on three hours of sleep. OK, that’s a slight exaggeration, but when you are all constantly churning out all kinds of awesomeness, separating the superlative from the pretty good is an epic quest. Our entire community (think: our HQ team, editors, writers, readers and you!) spend the whole year testing out new businesses, checking in on old ones, soliciting experts’ opinions and scouring social media in search of the unquestionably great. The end result is the exhaustive collection of finalists that we provide to our community who then decides and casts their votes for the ultimate Totally Awesome Awards winners.

During the voting process parents across the nation vote for the nominated products, services and resources. All winners in each category will be selected by the number of total votes they receive. The voting process is a secure voting forum, allowing one vote per award, per email address.

What’s the Totally Awesome Award Schedule?

Public voting will occur from September 1 to September 30, 2016 (11:59 PST). All winners will be announced on October 10, 2016.

How can I participate?

If you are a business that has been nominated, you can encourage your loyal community to vote for you by spreading the love and sharing your nomination via email, social media channels, at your place of business (if you have one) and shouting it from the rooftops (our preferred means of communication).

Is there a fee to participate in the Totally Awesome Awards?

Red Tricycle’s Totally Awesome Awards is a FREE online recognition program and open for any qualified family-friendly business to participate.

No Fee?! What kind of bribe does it take to get my business on the list?

Sorry, it doesn’t work that way—we are incorruptible. Although we are considering accepting chocolate donations. (Kidding!)

Seriously, though, rumor has it that you play favorites with advertisers.

Whoa, those are some fighting words. We absolutely do not practice nepotism, not with sponsors, advertisers or our Uncle Doug or Aunt Kathy. Regardless of whether or not you’ve done business with us, we judge you solely on your merits. (Sorry, Uncle Doug.). We have–and always will have–a strict “no pay for play” policy.

So how can I be sure you didn’t just bypass my company?

We promise that we spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about that very issue. It’s our job to know our backyard like you know the back of your hand or your kid’s nap schedule.

What’s the difference between “Local” and “National”?

Local categories are for the family friendly businesses in the 9 U.S. cities Red Tricycle is currently serving: Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, SoCal, Seattle, Washington D.C.

National categories are for products, brands and websites that are nationwide and serve families across the country.

How can I vote for a business?

On redtri.secureplatform.com choose the category you would like to vote for. Once you are on the category voting page, you will see the list of the finalists. Choose the finalist you’d like to vote for and enter your contact information by filling out your “Email” and your “Password” at the bottom of the page. Once the form is complete, click the “Confirm Vote” button and you’re all set.

How many times can I vote?

The voting process is limited to one vote per category per email. If the user tries to vote more than once in the same category using the same email, they will get an error and will not be able to complete the voting.

How will the winners be announced?

The winners of each category are determined by the number of the votes. The Red Tricycle team will contact each winner and then the winners will be publicly announced five ways:

  1. With a dedicated email to the entire Red Tricycle mailing list.
  2. On redtri.secureplatform.com winners announcement pages and on redtri.com with a winner announcement post.
  3. Red Tricycle will send a press release to announce the winners.
  4. Media Partners and the sponsor of the program will announce the winners on their blog.
  5. Throughout Red Tricycle’s blogger and partner network.

What do winners get?

Remember how we said we reach 8 million parents every month? As a winner you will gain direct access to them through:

  1. An email sent to Red Tricycle’s mailing list through a message specifically announcing the TAA winners
  2. Winners will be listed on redtri.com for a year.
  3. Each Winner will get a Q&A profile that highlights their business and what makes them totally awesome.
  4. Each winner will be featured in one free Hot List listing. Red Tricycle’s hot list is distributed once per month and details deals and businesses in local markets.
  5. Winners will receive exposure through Red Tricycle’s social and partner network during the winner announcements.
