Breaking the bank doesn’t have to go hand-in-hand with out of town vacationing. Believe it or not, you can keep on inspiring your kids with out-of-this-world experiences while keeping your budget spreadsheet happy. See more for less with these wallet-friendly travel tips from our friends at Mom.me.

Food

First off, as I’ve noted earlier, breakfast should be either inexpensive (because you’re eating it in your rented kitchen) or free (because it comes with the hotel room). For lunch, try hopping into a nearby deli or market and picking up sandwich fixings. Then visit a lovely park or other outdoor spot, and have yourselves a picnic. Not only do you save money, but it also allows the kids to run around. For dinner, find a LivingSocial or Groupon coupon for the city you’re visiting, and eat at a local restaurant on the cheap.
