Traveling with kids can be challenging and it’s rare to meet travelers without kids in tow who can relate. This dad’s viral letter about a stranger who entertained his daughter in the airport is a great reminder of how far a simple act of kindness can go.
Dad Kevin Armentrout was traveling with his wife and 16-month-old daughter Carter Jean and she was “being her usual inquisitive self” at the airport terminal, he explained in a Facebook post that has since gone viral. The picture accompanying his post shows Carter Jean sitting next to a man named Joseph Pat Wright who she met and befriended while the family waited for their flight.
“[Joseph] reached out and asked if she wanted to sit with him. He pulled out his tablet and showed her how to draw with it, they watched cartoons together, and she offered him snacks. This wasn’t a short little exchange, this was 45 minutes,” Armentrout wrote in the post.
It was a small gesture, but one that made the airport wait with a young toddler a breeze. That’s no easy feat. The post which has been shared over 100,000 times ended with a thank you to Wright for “showing my daughter what kindness and compassion looks like.”
