Last week, a mom’s viral open letter asking her husband for help was quickly circulating on social media, and with good reason: it’s a little bit of every mom.

Blogger and fellow mom Celeste Erlach actually penned the note to her husband several years ago but it’s just now going viral online—and moms everywhere are nodding their sleep-deprived heads and pounding their fists in agreement.

To say Erlach addressed pretty much each and every one of our issues is an understatement. It has this particular author wondering how on earth she got into my brain and articulated each and every thought better than I could. This letter isn’t so much about the things her spouse doesn’t do––in fact, it’s almost the opposite. In spite of having a loving and supportive husband Erlach still feels like she’s failing as she states:

“Part of me feels like a failure for even asking. I mean, you do help. You are an amazing father, and you do a great job with the kids. And besides, this should come easy to me, right? Motherly instincts, no?”

Letters like these don’t serve as the husband-bashing variety. No, in actuality they remind us all that we are all women and mothers who struggle with self-doubt, exhaustion, fear and often times the inability to ask for help. It’s in these moments we can rest assured that we aren’t alone and that there is support just beyond our reach––if we just ask for it.

You can read Erlach’s complete heartfelt letter, “Dear Husband: I NEED More Help” on the Spoke Contributor Network.

What part of this letter spoke the strongest to you? We’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
