Body cams recorded an amazing scenario in Shaker Heights, Ohio this week when police officers saved a choking baby’s life. Police Officers Ryan Sidders and Alex Oklander were out on their normal patrol when they came across what looked like a disabled vehicle in the middle of the street. But mother of 2-month-old Tyra, Tamica Pruitte, had pulled over for an emergency.
Pruitte was driving when she noticed her infant daughter began choking. Sensing the urgent situation, she did what any mother would do and just stopped right where she was to rush to her baby’s side––in the middle of a busy intersection.
Thankfully for Tamica, help was right behind her in the form of the Shaker Heights PD. The officers immediately flipped baby Tyra over and began performing back thumps to dislodge whatever was causing her to choke. The video ironically shows a very calm demeanor for everyone involved, including Pruitte. Cars can be seen going about their business next to the situation, unaware that police were performing life-saving measures in the middle of the road.
The police relied on their CPR training and it likely saved this baby’s life. We are so happy that their body cams could catch such an important part of their job for the rest of us to see.
This video shows an amazing effort to come together and help baby Tyra. How did you feel while watching it? Let us know in the comments below!
