You’re cooking up an Italian feast for the fam, and you’re all about serving yummy pesto with pasta and maybe even a pizza or two. So you head out to…Walmart! Umm, Walmart? Yep. The big box retailer is partnering with the Italian Trade Agency to bring customers in the US the tastes of Italy. Get ready for it — Walmart’s new Private Brand line, Sam’s Choice Italia, is here and we’ve got the details for you.
If it seems like Walmart is always adding to their own Private Brand line, they are. Just because they sell their line at low, low prices, doesn’t mean that they’re bare bones-ing it. No way.
Sam’s Choice Italia will include pesto and pasta sauces, bagged pasta, boxed dinners, balsamic vinegar, canned tomatoes and even frozen pizzas. Oh, and Walmart is working with suppliers based in Italy to source all of these yummy picks.
Senior Vice President, Private Brands, Walmart U.S., Jack Pestello, says, “Teaming up with the Italian Trade Agency is one of the many ways our Sam’s Choice brand brings authentic gourmet foods to families across America at everyday low prices.” He goes on to add, “We are fanatical about quality — it’s the first ingredient in everything we do.”
The new line currently has 40 products that are available in 3,600 stores, as well as Walmart.com. As the brand grows, Walmart hopes to roll out even more products under the Sam’s Choice Italia name.
