Calling all American Girl fans! It’s time to get your dolls all dolled up for a trip to the theater because the American Girl Live musical tour is headed to a city near you. That’s right: your kiddo’s favorite dolls are getting their own show and it’s sure to be spectacular.

With megastores, restaurants, books and movies already within its wheelhouse of girl power (and girl-powered) doll-related fun, a live musical tour is the perfect next step for the American Girl universe. “We’re thrilled to bring a new touring experience to families across the U.S. and offer this unique live-engagement with the brand,” Katy Dickson, president of American Girl told Variety.

“Over the past 30 years, American Girl’s beloved characters have become role models—inspiring millions of girls to think about their own character and how they want to make their mark on the world,” Dickson continued. “We know girls and their families and friends will love seeing these incredible stories come to life in an exciting, new stage production that offers an unwavering belief in the positive power of girlhood.”

Full details on the show and tour information have yet to be announced, but so far we know that the musical will feature an all-female cast and creative team. Dates have yet to be announced, but the show will begin touring North America in the fall of this year. The show will be a collaboration between American Girl and Mills Entertainment who previously produced the stage show Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live!

Sounds like a match made in theatrical heaven. The only question left is, what on earth will your American Girl doll wear to the show? Time to start planning (and shopping) now!

Would your kids be excited about an American Girl Live musical experience? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
