When did standing in line at a store on Thanksgiving—instead of sitting at home eating a fab feast with family—become a thing? We don’t know exactly, but it’s become increasingly more common for stores to be open on Thanksgiving Day in anticipation of Black Friday sales. But there are plenty of retailers putting their foot down—and keep their stores closed.

So which favorite retailers will lock their doors, allowing their staff to stay home and feast on turkey, cranberries and marshmallow sweet potato casserole? You can count on some of the biggest big box stores to be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year, including Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, IKEA and Sam’s Club.
