Museums are always a fun weekend activity with the family, but entry fees can quickly add up. If you want to score a deal and enjoy some educational entertainment with the kids, then there’s never been a better day to go than tomorrow when admission will be absolutely free.
Saturday September 23 is Museum Day Live, an annual event put together by Smithsonian Magazine in honor of all the amazing museum-going experiences the country has to offer. You can score two free tickets to the museum of your choice from the list of participating spots across the US by registering online. You can only select one museum for the day and the free tickets don’t cover special exhibits and Imax experiences that generally cost extra.
To find out what museums in your area are participating in the event, check out the Smithsonian website and search by state, zip code, or a specific museum name. There are so many museums to choose from, but a few of the notable spots that are family-friendly include:
Smithsonian American Art Museum
Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose
The Autry Museum of the American West, California
San Diego Air and Space Museum
Bay Area Discovery Museum
Portland Art Museum
Kids Discovery Museum, Washington
Children’s Museum of Bozeman, Montana
Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, New York
Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, New York
Virginia Discovery Museum
Virginia Museum of Natural History
Johnson County Museum, Kansas
Memphis Music Hall of Fame
Philadelphia History Museum
