Even celebrities face struggles when it comes to becoming parents. Singer John Legend recently revealed the hardship they faced when his wife, Chrissy Teigen, was battling postpartum depression. Read on to find out how they faced it together.
This power couple certainly hasn’t been secretive about their experiences as new parents, with Teigen regularly sharing their life on social media. The experiences haven’t all been wonderful, however. Their daughter, Luna, is now almost one, but when she was born, Teigen struggled with feelings of sadness and anxiety and was eventually diagnosed with postpartum depression.
While Teigen’s experience, which she detailed in an essay for Glamour magazine, is one many new moms will relate to, it’s not often that fathers share their thoughts on the subject. Legend recently opened up to People magazine, admitting that as a man he could never fully comprehend what his wife was experiencing, but that he did everything he could to support her. “You need to be present and you need to be compassionate. And we’re all learning and trying to figure it out as we go. At least do that and try to figure it out together,” he explained.
“I’m glad she wrote about it,” he added. “I think it was powerful for her to let a lot of women know they’re not alone, and no matter how much money you have or fame, anybody can feel that.”,
