As if Kate Hudson’s athleisure line wasn’t already ridiculously rad, now it’s supporting future female leaders. Fabletics Girl Almighty capsule collection will benefit the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up initiative. Specifically, 20 percent of the collection’s proceeds (up to the $50,000 goal) will go towards Girl Up’s SchoolCycle initiative.
This isn’t the first time Fabletics and Girl Up have partnered. The two have been working together for the past year and a half to help empower girls across the globe. The current partnership to help sponsor SchoolCycle will focus on providing girls in developing countries with bikes, spare bike parts and bike maintenance training.
So why do these girls need bikes and how can bikes empower them? The bikes will give girls who have no, or limited, access to transportation with a way to travel to school. It may seem simple. But something like a bike can make the difference between a girl getting an education and not going anywhere—literally.
Co-Executive Director of Girl Up, Anna Blue, said (in a press release), “Girls are an incredibly powerful force for change. At Girl Up, we give girls leadership training and a platform to make their voices heard. Every girl deserves a chance to achieve her dreams, so with a SchoolCycle bike, girls can get safely to school and choose their own future. We are so happy that our ongoing partnership with Fabletics furthers our cause with this fun capsule collection for Spring!”
The Girl Almighty capsule collection will feature six outfits, including leggings, sports bras, a hoodie and tanks and is available online at Fabletics.com and in stores starting May 8th.
