NYC has no shortage of interesting and enriching classes available for your kiddo, but if you’re not the commitment type, we don’t blame you. Why sign up for one semester-long class when you can drop-in to a variety of options when your schedule permits. Here, Red Tricycle’s favorite Brooklyn drop-in classes for babies and toddlers.
1. Channel Your Inner Rockstar
Preschool of Rock is an interactive, high-energy music class you and your little one will love – with drumming, shaking, dancing, instrument discovery, dramatic play and singing as a group.

Cost: $30 for drop in or $235 for 10 week session
Ages: 6 months to 4 years.

2. Get Your Groove On with African and Diaspora Dance
You’ll love interacting with your little one as you both learn simple dance moves and African Diaspora history and culture. Cumbe has three classes to choose from to get the toddler set moving – Ubuntu, Uhuru and Drum Dance.
When: various times Sunday – Saturday
Cost: $17 drop in

3. Find Inner Peace at Storytime
The yoga storytime class begins and ends with a simple restorative yoga practice for the adults while the kids play in a supervised area. Then the little ones learn simple asana and breathing through animals, the alphabet and stories.
When: Thurs., 10-11 a.m., ongoing

4. Unleash your Imagination Through Dramatic Play
Here your kiddo will learn to use his/her imagination through story telling and the dramatic arts. Each class begins with the opening of a treasure trunk, the contents of which are used to tell and act out a story. This 8-kids-max class is a drop-off class, though you can stay if desired.
When: Tues., 1:45-2:30 p.m.

5. Warm Up Your Vocals at Sing Along
Your kiddo will love singing along with Amy, who plays a combination of original and well known songs on guitar and ukulele. A mom herself, she knows how to keep kids engaged from start to finish including hands-on instrument time for all and bubbles.

Ages: 5 and under

6. Learn Spanish Through Puppetry, Music and Song
Puppets will help your little one learn simple Spanish dialogues and songs. You and your kiddo can then repeat and practice them at home.
When: Sat. 11-11:45 a.m.

7. Make Friends, Learn and Play at Playgroup
Looking to meet friends for both you and your toddler? Start here. There will be toys for the kiddos and conversation for you and the other parents, all with a trained leader facilitating the fun.
When: Mon., 10:30 a.m.
Cost: $12 + RSVP for drop-ins required
Ages: 17 months – 2.5 years

8. Meet Friends and Make Music Together
You and your kiddo will love the unstructured music and instrument play, with guidance from the early childhood faculty at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Meet new friends, play with puppets, try a triangle and more, all in a space big enough for your entire mom’s group.
When: Mon., Tues., 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; Thurs. at 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $5 drop in
Ages: 0 – 4.5 years

9. Express Yourself Through Art
Introduce your kiddo to art at this fun class. You never know what kind of project you’ll be working on from drawing to painting to collage and sculpture. If paintbrushes and crayons get boring, don’t worry, this 45-minute session also includes games, stories and music.

Ages: 18 months – 3 years

10. Sing, Dance and Be Merry
Hosted by an instructor with her guitar, this music class will feel like one big kiddie party with nursery rhymes, pop hits, silly games, instruments, dancing and singing.

Ages: newborn – 6 years old
