You don’t have to be in the Chopped kitchen to take Nutella to a whole new level. In fact, this easy to make Pear and Nutella Crumble will give you and your little chefs a fun desert to make that’s worthy of every and all bragging rights. It’s even customizable so if your little ones squirm when you serve them pears, substitute with other fruit such as bananas and apples and serve a la mode.
7/8 cup Nutella
2 1/2 tbsp. unsalted butter
2 1/2 tbsp. sugar
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
4 tbsp. ground almonds
1. Pre-heat the oven to 350°F. Wash and peel the pears then cut them into small cubes. Layer the pear cubes in the bottom of a ovenproof dish and, using the back of a tablespoon, spread them with Nutella; if it is difficult to spread the Nutella, place the jar in hot water for 2 or 3 minutes to make it more runny.
2. Cut the butter into small pieces. Place in a bowl with the sugar, flour and ground almonds. Work the ingredients together with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
3. Sprinkle this mixture on top of the Nutella and bake for approximately 25 minutes; the crumble should be nicely golden. Serve warm.
