What could be more adorable than a tiny, sleepy baby dressed up to look like a flower growing in a pot? In the late 80s and early 90s, nothing was cuter than the iconic photography of Anne Geddes, who captured colorful photographs of infants in whimsical, but simple settings. The famous photographer is now getting a glimpse of what her young subjects look like all grown up.
BABIES, LOOK AT YOU NOW! Back in 1993 when I photographed 7 month old twins Alexandra & Myles, I described them as the very essence of what I love about babies – those wonderful rolls and fabulous tummies! Look at the twins today – well travelled 24 year olds. Alex has a Bachelor of Communications degree majoring in Public Relations and Media, and Myles is a builder! They are both living in their home town in New Zealand. It was wonderful to hear how well you're both doing and hi to your mum Jenni! Every week in this ongoing series I'll be showing some of my early babies as they are today, so if you were one of those babies and you like to take part, I'd love to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org. Send a recent photo and tell me a little about what you've been up to! XOAnne #protectnurturelove #annegeddesbaby #babylookatyounow
Anne Geddes recently released a retrospective book on some of the greatest works of her 30-year career titled Small World. In looking back she also decided to reunite with some of the babies she once photographed who are now in their mid 20s. She tracked down her former models for a now and then photo series on Instagram titled Baby Look At You Now. Geddes explained to Today that it was something she wanted to do when she turned 60, which happened last year. “I think I needed to wait that long to revisit them,” she said.
