Brian McLean

Brian McLean, Director of Rapid Prototyping at LAIKA Entertainment

Brian’s a creative guy. At work, he helps make character’s faces animate and come to life. Brian is also THE pioneer in the use of 3D printing technology with animation - LAIKA was the first in the world to use it – garnering Brian an Annie Award (the animation equivalent to an Oscar) for Coraline. At home, he takes his young son “uck hunting” or truck hunting, hits the many playgrounds in their NE Portland ‘hood and is gearing up for backyard movie nights this summer. When he’s not exercising his creative muscles, Brian and his wife can be found cycling the Reach the Beach (a fundraiser for the American Lung Association) and Gourmet Century bike rides. We can’t wait for more world-class animation from Brian and the LAIKA gang when The Boxtrolls hits theaters in 2014!

To all the Top Pops and Rad Dads out there in Portland, we salute you as well! Let us know who else we should add to our list in the comment section below.
