The name says it all! This funky fabulous shop in downtown Portland is chock full of curated finds, from mustache wax, to model sailboats, to handmade furniture. Most of their products are locally handmade. With artisan jewelry and a beautiful selection of letterpress stationary, shoppers will likely pick up a little gift for themselves, too.

Give the gift of a fun experience, and perhaps one you can do together. Handy (or wannabe handy) dads can create a craft all while enjoying beer or wine at North Portland’s DIY Bar. Crafters can select their task from the project menu: from a one hour, personalized leather luggage tag, to a three hour, wooden six-pack holder. Gift cards are available, too.

To experience old-school nostalgia of the barber shop experience, along with a Widmer microbrew and game of pool, guys head to Y-Chrome. Services include hot towel and straight-razor shaves, haircuts and color. Pair this with dinner reservations following the pampering session, and you’ll have one relaxed and stylish date!

For the speed demon dad, give the gift of a real-life racecar experience at Portland International Raceway. Choose to either drive your own vehicle with custom one-on-one instruction for your car, or upgrade to a SkidCar with high speed exercises and timed laps. The courses also improve maneuvering and driving skills – the only difficult part will be keeping the high speeds on the track! Gift certificates for all classes are available.

Brewvana Brewery Tours
For the beer lover in your life, give the gift of a customized beer tour! Brewvana has both walking and bus tours, specializing in areas, such as Mississippi St or the Pearl District – or types, such as cask ales, behind-the-scenes brewery tours, and a “how to cook with craft beer” class. All tours include beer samples, appetizers, a pilsner glass, sampling journal and…a pretzel necklace! Prices range from $69 for a walking tour and from $79 for bus tours. Private tours are also available.

Portland Rock Gym
Get your feet off the ground by learning to climb at the Portland Rock Gym. A gift certificate to the Intro Class provides all rental equipment and a one-week membership for $56. Your rock climbing caveman will come back with the knowledge of rope-handling, belaying and climbing commands, plus perhaps a lifelong interest in a great indoor and outdoor NW sport. While there is a full bar, minors are allowed too, so this may be a fun family-day activity as well. Pizza, bao buns and other snacks and candy are available for purchase. Load funds onto your PayRange app to give a gift certificate ahead of time and you’ll never run out of quarters, or arcade fun!
