The Red Tricycle Team
With 20 years of city magazine and online media experience between them, the Red Tricycle team had created the first and only multi-city guide and go-to resource for hip people who happen to be parents, too.
Jacqui Boland, Founder & CEO
A fifteen year media veteran in both New York and San Francisco, Jacqui helped launch a slew of media properties for Reed Elsevier, Meredith Corporation, Miller Publishing and San Francisco magazine. Prior to media, Jacqui worked in Public Relations and counted RIngling Bros Circus and Walt Disney’s World on Ice among her clients. Her start-up experience includes sflodgings.com (an airbnb predecessor) and Breathe, a yoga lifestyle company. When not running Red Tricycle, she helps manage her six-year-old’s growing lemonade stand empire.
Charina Lumley, VP of Sales
Senior media exec with 12+ years of successful sales and marketing experience in all aspects of integrated media including digital, print, event and mobile extensions. Charina’s media expertise includes a seven-year stint at Active Interest Media (a network healthy living media titles including YogaJournal and Backpacker), Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, O! The Oprah Magazine, and Men’s Health.
Daniel Wang, VP of Sales
Daniel has 15 years of sales experience in the advertising, digital media and SMB space. He comes to Red Tricycle from AOL patch, where he worked as a Regional Director building teams and delivering exceptional sales growth. Before joining the Red Tricycle team, Daniel was Director of Sales for Juice in the City. Prior to that, he also held sales strategy, training and leadership roles for Dex Media. Daniel earned his undergrad marketing degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MBA from Pepperdine University and Master Certificate in Internet Marketing from University of San francisco.
Toby McKes, Director of Engineering
Toby is a huge nerd. He’s responsible for making the Red Tricycle site tick. If something’s wrong, he probably knew about it 5 minutes ago. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and armed with a BFA from the University of Washington’s Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media, he runs things from the Seattle “branch” of Red Tricycle. Toby has worked in startups the past 4 years, notably for Cheezburger, where he helped the company grow from small startup to humor media empire. He’s passionate about WordPress, open source software and emerging web technologies. In his “spare” time, Toby enjoys cooking, video games, Science Fiction and music.
Stacy Hallett / Director of Community and Partnerships
With over 15 years of sales, marketing and management experience, most recently in the “mom space”, jumping on board with Red Tricycle was a natural move for Stacy. An East Bay, CA native, you can generally find her on the weekends watching her 2 kids at any of several sporting events or walking her 3 labrador retrievers around the neighborhood. Stacy’s strengths in creative partnerships and strategic relationships will be key to our wheels riding into new markets while continuing to grow our current presence.
Tuba Ugurlu, Director of Marketing
With a desire to explore the world of Business, Tuba left her home in Turkey and relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. Since graduating from UC Berkeley she has assisted several Bay Area companies grow their online presence in Social Media and Marketing. She holds degrees in both Engineering and Business. She joined the Red Tricycle team in July 2010.
Quynn Nguyen, Web & Newsletter Producer / Ad Ops
Raised on the sunny island of Oahu in Hawaii, some would say Quynn lost her mind when she packed her bags and left the perfect weather and sandy beaches for the rain of Seattle to get her BA from the University of Washington. She would agree. Quynn has since found her middle ground in California, and joins the Red Tricycle team with a diverse set of skills and over six years of experience in web merchandising, product strategy & sales, business development and account management from both e-com as well as bricks & mortar environments.
Tina Ly, Advertising Sales Coordinator
Born and raised in San Francisco, Tina’s heart and soul is set in The City and refuses to go anywhere else — unless it’s for an awesome vacation! Tina has always knew she wanted to work for the advertising side of business. So as she rapidly stepped into the business world as a fresh college graduate, Tina was motivated to work for a great company and she found Red Tricycle. With her strong ninja-like work ethic, Tina knew Red Tricycle would be a great place to strive. Tina happily joined the Red Tricycle Team in November 2011.
Erin Lem, Managing Editor
After graduating with a B.A. from Occidental College, Erin decamped to the Big Apple where she earned her editing and writing chops working for a literary agency. She has also written for NBC, Clinique, Care2, and a variety of other online media companies. While the bright lights of New York City were enchanting, Erin couldn’t resist moving back to her beloved (and snow-free!) hometown of San Francisco where she joined the Red Tricycle team in June 2011.
Scott Wardell, Editorial Assistant
With a passion for all things San Francisco, Scott couldn’t help but return to his city by the bay after graduating from UC Davis with a degree in English and Religious Studies. It was in Davis that Scott discovered his interest in cycling and writing/editing. He can usually be seen riding his bike north across the Golden Gate bridge or racing through the city looking for his next burrito fix. Scott joined the Red Tricycle team in June of 2011.
