At the end of a long day of working and shuttling kids from school to activities it can be hard to find time, much less energy, for a workout no matter how badly you need one. A new app that will pay you to exercise could be just the motivation you need.

Sweatcoin is a new app that gives users the ability to earn “sweatcoins” for exercising. The app uses your phone to track data on the steps you’ve taken and then rewards you for those steps. Every 1,000 steps earns .95 sweatcoins. You can then trade those in for items like workout gear, protein shakes, magazine subscriptions, and even an iPhone X.

The app is completely free so all you have to do is download it and start moving. Since it uses your phone’s GPS it will only count “outdoor steps,” which means steps taken in place, like on a treadmill, won’t be counted. But you don’t actually have to be outside, movement indoors is tracked too, so all of those steps you took chasing your toddler through the house trying to convince him to get in the bathtub will totally count. You can download the app for iOs or Android here.

Would this app motivate you to workout? Share your thoughts in the comments. – Shahrzad Warkentin
