There are four things a mama needs to survive motherhood: a huge heart, sense of humor, a good village and wine, lots and lots of wine. Wrangling a toddler and fielding tantrums can be challenging; choosing a glass of wine shouldn’t be. Here’s a cheat sheet on what wines pair perfectly with your toddler’s mood. Cheers!
Happy, agreeable, downright adorable? Oh how we savor these moments. Pour yourself a nice clean Rosé, hell break out the Champagne!
Busy, independent, concentrated? Fantastic, now is a great time to pour that red without worrying your little one will knock it over. Try an Argentinian Malbec.
Hyper, crazy, tornado toddler? Careful mama…grab one of those tumblers vs. your stemware and pour yourself a little bit of serenity. Times like these call for a buttery Chardonnay.
Stubborn, Defiant, a little sh*t? Take down the bottle, it’s okay we won’t judge. Start drowning yourself in an Australian Shiraz (it has a higher alcohol count than most others).
Clingy, sad, whiney? Poor baby and poor mama. Sip on a nice light Chianti in between cuddles on days like this. The Chianti pairs nicely with Goldfish crackers… just say’n.
Hosting a playdate and anticipating a roller coaster of mood swings for the next few hours? A crisp Sauvignon Blanc is always a crowd pleaser and easy to clean if spilled.
Sleeping toddler? Amen! Hallelujah! If it’s naptime stick with a lighter wine like a German Riesling or a French Alsace Blanc. Too sweet? Go for a classic Pinot Grigio. Down for the night? Settle into the sofa with a California Pinot Noir or Cabernet.
Drink and parent responsibly. It’s always a good idea to have a DD (designated dad).
